The reefs of Bocas del Toro offer some of the best soft and hard coral in the Caribbean,, enabling you to observe a large variety of marine species in beautiful clear waters. The waters are inhabited by a wonderful variety of tropical reef creatures including nurse sharks, sting rays and many species of crab and lobster.
Diving in Bocas is good all year round, however its at its best when it hasn’t rained the day before or even for several days. The best months to go diving are during our local dry season, which is February, March, May, September and October, because there’s better visibility! Having said that, Bocas warm Caribbean waters are the perfect place to gain or advance your PADI diving certifications.
The local outfitters in Bocas del Toro take their guests to more than 15 dive sites, and are constantly looking for new places to view the under water wonders. Some of the famous spots include Hospital Point, Buoy Line, Manual’s Wall, Coral Garden, The Log, Crawl Cay, San Cristobal, The Whorehouse, The Wreck, Playground, Tiger Rock, Zapatillas Cay, and Escudo de Veraguas Island.
